We had an outstanding experience with Penn’s! Our 3yo rescue needed some basic training for her manners at home and around other people and dogs. Carolyn (our trainer) was kind, supportive, and patient with Gracie and us, and thorough in her explanations of the lessons and how to best implement them with our girl. Carolyn communicated promptly with us when we needed to adjust our schedule, and was flexible with her availability. Gracie is a more confident dog who grew so much over the course of our training time together. My husband and I are also more confident wth her and more comfortable taking her to new places and exposing her to new situations. We cannot say enough about Carolyn and the entire team at Penn's Canine Training. We recently adopted Eddie, a 6-month-old Labradoodle who came to us from unknown circumstances — timid, anxious, and absolutely terrified of the leash. What Carolyn accomplished with him in such a short time was nothing short of remarkable. From day one, Carolyn demonstrated an extraordinary depth of knowledge about canine psychology. She didn't just train Eddie — she helped us understand how to communicate with him effectively, teaching us proper handling techniques and obedience commands that gave him structure, confidence, and a sense of security. Night and day difference in our Golden because of Penn’s Canine Training! Mike and team are professional, extremely knowledgeable, and customize the training based on both the dog’s and owners needs. They clearly care for the dogs as if they were their own. We’ve had 4 Goldens and this one was so difficult we had considered re-homing her when someone recommended Mike. I inquired for training through a lot of places recently and have a very unique situation. Michael was unable to provide the exact services I needed and let me know that up front. What happened next was something I did not think happened much anymore. Michael provided guidance and insight multiple times on other training and what he thought our dog needed. He did not have to do this at all and he did it out of kindness to me, my family, and our newest best friend. Michael at Penn’s Canine Training is incredible. We completed the training program with one of Michael’s trainers when our very active Sheepadoodle (Cosmo) was about a year old. He completed the “Dream Dog” program which included off leash walking. Shortly after we got another dog, a bernadoodle (Lola). We thought we would be able to take what we learned and apply it to Lola. Well that didn’t happen and Cosmo began to regress. We finally decided it was time to bring in some help with Lola and see if they could polish up Cosmo at the same time. Michael did not disappoint. He came out and discussed the plan for both dogs. Twelve weeks later, we now have 2 dogs that respond to basic commands, understand place and stay there until released, don’t jump on guests when they walk in the door, and can walk off leash comfortably. Not only did Michael come to our house but we also took trips to Downtown Winter Garden, Winter Park, and Lake Eola so we can be comfortable taking our dogs when we go to pet friendly places. He is available when questions arise and provides tips for us to help maintain that “Dream Dog”. He goes above and beyond to really understand the personality of each dog and how to address situations for each one separately. Michael always listened to what our biggest concerns were as a family and helped us address each of those issues. I would highly recommend Michael at Penn’s Canine Training if you are in need of a dog trainer.

We’ve been really happy with Michael and his dog training program! From the beginning, he listened to our goal for Joe to become a therapy dog and helped us shape him into the amazing dog he is today. Before we started training with Penn’s Canine Training, our puppy was fearful, barking at everything and everyone, which made taking him outside and inviting people over very stressful. Micheal met us where we were at, taught us skills and techniques which enabled us to help build Churro’s confidence (and ours) and break the cycle of reacting negatively to situations. He worked with us in our home as well out in the “real world”. I never would have thought that we would be at a point where we can take Churro to an outdoor cafe, or walk down the streets of a Farmers Market filled with people and animals with confidence and without issues. Sully is an adopted stray dog, sheltered and obtained from a rescue in a rural setting. He immediately showed us how loving he could be. Yet he was very shy, nervous, and distrustful of everything moving and reacted to Dogs, squirrels , lizards, people , kids, bikes, cars, scooters, even store front posters. Even though I possessed previous GSD experience ( had one for 13 years) I was desperate and overwhelmed. I really wanted to our relationship to succeed. He derserved a forever home. I eventually find Penn’s Canine Training. We met Michael, and took one of his programs. Kyle was assigned as his trainer. I truly loved the patience that Kyle showed. His ability to calmly steer Sully and I in the right direction was an absolute hit. Sully learned all obedience commands, Kyle and I took him to Lowe’s, Home Depot, Lake Eola , Boxi Park and Meadow woods park. These outings along with his obedience training molded Sully’s new personality. There was one thing that we were not able to dominate, though he had improved a lot. That was his reactivity; mostly in the neighborhood. After his graduation, Kyle coordinated a meeting with Michael whom came over one day with his pup and worked with me and Sully. Mostly me. Summarizing, I signed up for the perfect dog program. I wanted Sully to have the best opportunity possible. I am proud to inform…. I have the PERFECT dog…. Thank you Kyle and thank you Michael.

Mike is the best. I adopted a shelter dog. He was fearful, didn’t like other dogs and in a short time he was trained to walk without fear and tolerate other dogs. His dog was great also. He is going to doggie day care to play with other dogs. I can’t say enough good things about Penn training.

From start to finish it was an amazing experience. It seemed like we were the ones being trained instead of the dog, which was very unique and we learned to appreciate it right away because it will be something we can take with us for the rest of our lives with our furry companions. Questions were always answered quickly. Explanations were covers numerous times and in different ways in order to make sure the goal of the session was understood and accomplished. We would absolutely recommend to our friends and family.

The entire process of training our service dog has been amazing from day 1. Michael, the owner, first completed a long evaluation and spoke with us about our expectations, concerns, goals, etc. He provided us with various different programs that could work for us. No pressure! We signed up immediately and due to our specific service needs were paired up with Bella. She was wonderful and bonded with our Golden, Rosie and worked so well training both Rosie and us, the owners. Honestly, I wish there was a higher rating than 5 stars! Weekly plans with goals were set and any and all questions or concerns were addressed. Rosie was so happy to please and learn. She was excited every time Bella walked in for the next lesson. Our Rosie is doing so many more things than we could have imagined! We would recommend Penn's training to anyone - crate, obedience, service, etc. The trainers have numerous certifications and love what they do! If and when we get another dog, we would call Penn's training on day 1. We also highly recommend Bella, as we loved her.

We can’t thank Michael and Bella enough for everything they did to help us train Ghost! From the moment we met Michael we knew we’d be in good hands! Our trainer, Bella was so great with Ghost, no matter what the lesson was she was very patient and great at explaining what we needed to do and why we were doing it. Our biggest area of concern was Ghost’s reactivity on a leash, but now we can feel confident taking Ghost out and not having to worry about seeing other dogs along the way. Michael and his trainers has made a long lasting change for our Ziggy. A DDR German Shepard thinking he was running the show. I couldn't walk him he would react to any moving thing with legs. He was tuff but the work from Michael and his team made ziggy a new boy. He walks off lease , he plays ball and great with the grandkids. My grandson wants to be a trainer and will practice with ziggy every chance he gets. The training was well worth the investment ziggy is the dream dog he was trained to be.

I chose to go with Penn’s canine training after meeting with several other trainers regarding service dog training. They came out to evaluate my puppy to see if she would even qualify for this type of training which I appreciate since not all dogs enjoy service dog work or might not be ready yet to dive into that kind of training. We decided to move forward and were matched with our trainer Kyle. To be honest I was nervous for the whole thing. I was having difficulty bonding with my puppy after the loss of my service dog. Kyle was the perfect fit for our needs. He was always honest but in a way that was positive and we were always looking forward not on previous mistakes. We took things as fast/slow as we needed to be successful. Kyle was always honest and a great sounding board for how we were doing and next steps. It was a great experience all the way around and the training was top notch. A variety of methods were used to best support my pup and she was always so excited when Kyle would come for our training sessions. She has successfully taken her first flight, attended her first professional conference, and so much more.

Kyle is a fantastic trainer! He really bonded with Apollo. His demeanor was so friendly and genuine that we got very comfortable with seeing him twice a week. Apollo and I will miss him very much. This training has made Apollo an amazing pup. I am very pleased with what we were able to accomplish these past ten weeks. In the beginning, I struggled to get him to walk past a house that he was scared of and now, he doesn’t care about it at all. I am so happy we decided to go with Penn’s Canine Training. Kyle was amazing with our Athena and she became extremely comfortable with him through the training sessions. Kyle also made sure to see any issues or concerns my husband and I had regarding Athena through to the end. The biggest issue I had was that I would be terrified to take Athena on walks before this program. She would jump and pull constantly. I was afraid she would run away and there is no way I can catch her. Now, we go on 3-4 enjoyable walks every day. We get compliments often on how well-behaved she is. Bella is a doggo🐶whisperer! She has performed miracles with our hyperactive GSD, Jackson. I seriously considered getting him neutered to calm his energy but thanks to her clear and simple instructions, that is no longer an option. We didn't want to quell Jacksons exuberant liveliness but just help him be his best self. With Bella, we have managed to eliminate his pulling, lunging, jumping, counter surfing, and barking behaviors. Now, we can stroll with Jackson down the street off leash without fearing he'll bolt after squirrels or bunnies. When we got our German Shorthair Pointer puppy, Apollo, we thought we would be able to train him ourselves like we did our older GSP. BOY WERE WE WRONG! I’m a little late posting a review, as Michael trained our GSD pup almost 2.5 years ago now, but I just recommended him to my sister and I realized I never left him a review. We were so happy with Michael’s work with our dog! We live on a very busy street and I love that I can rest assured our dog will never run out of the house or not listen to us because of Michael. We can also walk anywhere off leash now too, which I never would have thought possible when we began our training.

Penns Canine was great. Our dog is a working breed and although he was not a bad dog by any means , we had so much to learn and understand to be able to enjoy him and give him what he needed. Bella was great at pinpointing the issues and teaching us how best to overcome them. Cannoli loved working with her as did the rest of the family. Her knowledge and understanding was amazing and she was very patient and kind. We will always be grateful for our time with her.

Michael is extremely knowledgeable about dog AND people behavior and understands how to teach both in order to have a greater relationship with your furry family member. His philosophy of training uses a balance of correction and praise, which achieves a dog that is extremely happy, confident, and adjusted to a myriad of situations in the human environment. The one-on-one interaction is well worth the time and money. He does set expectations for the owner to work towards. Having this accountability can be very motivating for those that may tend to procrastinate. If you just trust the system that Michael has put together, your dog will be trained and fit in any social environment... and he puts up a lifetime warranty to prove it! He is also great at solving any "custom" problems that your dog in particular is having/causing (every dog is different). He first does this by having great open communication every lesson asking if there is anything new your dog is doing that it shouldn't do. Secondly, I'm not sure if there is anything "new under the sun" that Michael has not seen regarding doggy issues, and he is very quick to point out, and show you, exactly how to take care of any problems. Lastly, he is very concerned with listening to your dreams on what you want to achieve with your dog, and he guides you down the path that helps you achieve that goal. My wife and I are extremely grateful for the above and beyond attention Michael gave us and our Dog, Romeo! It was worth the 1-1/2 hour drive out, 2x/week, every week. Michael's training far exceeded our expectations, and we are both well-adjusted dog owners now! Thank you, Michael! We also want to give a lot of thanks to his assistant, Nio! Nio is Michael's German Shepherd that he used to help train our dog and serve as a model of what a well-trained dog looks like.

We recently brought home a GSD puppy. We knew she would need training, and most importantly, WE would need training. The moment we met Mike for our first consultation we knew we made the right choice for our service dog training. Bella from Penn's Canine training was everything we wanted and how to guide us to train our Wheaten Terrier puppy Buster. She was thoughtful, amazing energy, she did not overwhelm us with multiple assignments a week but ensured we understood the lessons to guide Buster in a way that we thought would never happen (we had multiple trainers a prior). We would look forward to our training session with Bella instead of dreading them, Buster loved Bella so much and most of the correction was for us! We saw progress every week, if we had a challenge with example recall we would troubleshoot with Bella! Matheu was a fantastic trainer that got Russell the Jack Russell to be the perfect off leash companion. Before training we couldn’t even get Russell to walk in the direction we wanted and now he will follow me wherever I go, without a leash! Daniele was so attentive to all of my specific concerns. She helped me feel more confident in building a relationship with my dog, and understanding his needs and behaviors. Before working with her, I was so stressed out not knowing how to handle my dogs high energy and couldn’t take him out with me for fear of him pulling on the leash, jumping on people or generally running amok trying to play with other dogs. Two German Shepherd dogs found us as pet parents, and we were so excited. We didn't know their background, age, names, etc...but we knew we wanted them. I trained for about 7 months with Matheu and had a great experience. My service dog Venus did the executive service dog program and excelled extremely quick. Matheu was very helpful in explaining the “why” behind what he’s doing so I was able to understand and be a better handler. We had some scheduling errors here and there but Matheu made sure to make up for our time. Training with him was a very fun experience that I looked forward to and while I’m glad to have a fully trained dog now, I will miss it. Now that Venus is graduated, Matheu has still reached out to provide tips on touching up tasks and also has been extremely helpful providing nutrition tips and helping me swap out my old e collar system for a new one. Venus is an incredible and extremely well trained girl, and I’m very grateful I chose this program for her. We did an 8 week program with Matheu. It completely changed our dogs behavior, far past what we expected. Before our training, our dogs were chaotic, unruly, and unpleasant for family and friends to be around. Now, they are calm, controlled and a pleasure to have in our lives. We completed Penn's training program about a month or two ago and I'm still happy we used them as our dog trainers till this day. I found Penn's Canine training through a random recommendation online and I'm very glad that we went with them. Our dog was quite chaotic and didn't listen despite the training we had given her prior, but thanks to Mattheu Latony and Penn's Canine training, she's much improved and we can actually take her places! Mattheu's knowledge about dog training was much needed and while working with him, he really cared about our pupper throughout the whole stage. He also gave really good advice when it came to dealing with a lot of the behavioral and stubbornness that she has. It's fun now that we can actually see our dog's personality and she's such a fun companion to have. The only downside is it is expensive or at least pricier than I expected, but they have different training programs and work with you to help you understand your dog. They do give you homework to complete, but that "homework" helps you so much in learning how to handle your dog and understand them. Overall I'd highly recommend them if you're looking to train your dog. If I get another dog I'm going to use Penn's Canine training again.

If you’re familiar with Rhodesian Ridgebacks, you know that they are super loving with their family, but also super strong and a bit stubborn. The main issues I was having with my boy were leash pulling, door and greeting manners, recall, acting up when other dogs approached, among other things. I did the 12 week program with Penn’s Canine Training. Which was a combination of my trainer and dog one on one, and then me, my dog, and my trainer. It was a great investment for both me and my 95 lb furry pal. Especially since he is now more than half my weight and could literally drag me down the street if he wanted to. Daniele was our trainer. I say “our trainer” because I was part of the problem. But not only did Daniele help train my dog, she also taught me the right way to give him commands and corrections, which is key. She’s an amazing trainer with a lot of knowledge and patience. Her ability to be flexible and adapt to my dog’s stubbornness was extremely useful. As there were times when she changed strategies to fit my dog. I cannot say enough to give her the praise she deserves. My Rhody is a completely different dog. He no longer bombards the guests. He no longer runs to the door when I open it. He waits patiently in his place until released. Our walks are much more enjoyable. We no longer avoid other dogs, as he now can walk by calmly and is no longer triggered by barking dogs. He doesn’t chase lizards or squirrels or eat stuff off the ground. He sits or stays down at command if I stop to speak to someone. He can be let off leash to walk, to do his zoomies or pretend to play with a ball and comes right back at command if need be. He has truly become a better companion now that he listens. I’ve received many compliments on what a well behaved dog he is. I can go on and on, but I think I’ve made the point. I highly recommend Daniele and Penn’s Canine Training!! You and your dog won’t regret it! Made a huge difference.

I found Penn’s through word of mouth one day when I was walking my unruly puppy about town. I’m a first time dog owner and I wanted to make sure that I got my puppy enrolled a training course that would allow me to feel confident bringing him out in public as well as having people over to my home. I didn’t just want to bring him to a commercial pet store with a brief training course to teach him to be a trick pony. I wanted a well behaved dog, and with consistent effort and practice that’s exactly what I got. I’m very happy with the results that I got from Penn’s. I would highly recommend them. Daniele was an absolute joy to work with as we transformed our 8-year old goldendoodle Georgy Girl into the fully-compliant dog that we've dreamed of. Georgy now obeys commands AND seems happier, knowing how much we care for her safety. Our experience working with Daniele has been beyond rewarding! We worked by her and Conrad's side the past 3 months with our sweet Tucker. When we first started Tucker wouldn't walk on the leash, was scared to leave the front door, we had to carry him to and from the car, was scared of his crate, and was having multiple accidents in the house daily! He was 4 months old then. He is now 7 months! He loves going outside, walks and jumps in the car, is perfect on the leash, is walked outside off the leash, listens to commands, and is stress free and well behaved! We will continue to work with him constantly as we know this provides the most well behaved pups. The direction and guidance from Daniele and Conrad, was excellent! Conrad is adorable and by the end him and Tucker were fur friends! He provided the best example for Tucker to follow. Daniele was always on time, if not early! And always made sure to use each minute of our time useful and practical. We are sad to say our sessions are over!

Matheu Latony was the one who did the training of our two dogs. We have a standard poodle and a Bernedoodle who is quite headstrong. They both listened so well for him. The standard poodle was shy at first, then quickly warmed right up to him. We highly recommend Penn's Canine Training.

I came to Penn’s Canine Training with my one year old German Shepard, Luna. She was super high energy and had some possession issues with balls. She was never aggressive, but I wanted to prevent that from even becoming an option. Michael came out to assess her and handed me over to Matheu for the duration of her training. Now she listens and follows through on all her commands, responds when off leash, and has the tools to overcome her possession issues. Mike stayed true to his word! He stuck with us and our two dogs until we were satisfied. Mike understands how to motivate dogs to do what we humans would like for them to do.He will also teach them to discontinue bad behaviors. I would highly recommend Mike. Our dogs are such a pleasure now!!

Our pup just graduated with Penn’s Canine Training. Working with Lacey was awesome. Our pup, Ares recently completed Penn’s 12-week “Dream Dog” program. I was a little hesitant to hire another dog trainer considering we didn’t have the best experience with Ares’s previous trainer, but working with Lacey from Penn’s Canine was such a great experience. Ares is a high energy dog who’s mouthy, way too playful, and super stubborn. His initial training was not enough and we knew we’d have to seek advanced training. Being able to watch her train Ares was awesome, specially since the majority of the work happens at home with us. My 2 year old whippet dog Bender and I had the pleasure of working with Lacey at Penn's Canine Training. Lacey quickly got to the root of some of the issues with my dog, which included trying to run out the front door, jumping on people entering the house, pulling on the leash during walks and barking at other dogs, and off leash recall. When you search the internet for the best pet trainers in Orlando you come across a lot of different results from boarding facilities to group lessons, to one on one training and it can be a hard choice to make, but one piece of advice I can give you is to look at the trainer's dog and how it behaves. I would take all their online claims with a grain of salt because the real test is how well the trainer's dog listens. In my case as soon as I saw Mike leave his car with his dog Nova off-leash and I saw how well Nova listened and behaved I knew I made the right choice. Mike is really the gold standard when it comes to dog training, he is exceptional at what he does and is extremely accommodating when it comes to planning. I started with the on-leash loose-leash training and after one lesson with Mike I saw a huge difference in my dog's bahevior on-leash and I felt more confident to handle problems that could come up. When I transitioned to the off-leash program he was flexible and met me at different locations from parks to busy streets and shopping areas to make sure my dog was prepared in any and every situation. I would highly recommend Penns Canine training for anyone who is considering dog training. Even though Mike is more expensive than the rest, he is worth every penny and I would choose him all over again if I had the chance. It doesn't hurt that all his training comes with a lifetime guarantee too ;)

Before we decided to get a dog, we were adamant that we would invest in their training, no different than educating our own children. We are so happy to have found Mike because he is the best trainer, period. He definitely exceeded our expectations. First and most importantly- I would recommend Mike over and over again to anyone who wants a highly skilled and professional dog trainer. He allowed my dog and I to become a team, learn how to effectively communicate and live a much less stressful life. I have a Miniature Australian Shepherd named Skye. I brought her home in February and started training with her everyday. She was extremely smart (per the breed standard) but also had a serious attitude problem. Then came COVID and as she just finished her shots, everything shut down and so her key socialization period became non-existent. I kept telling myself she would get better at 6 months old, 9 months old, a year.. etc. But in August I realized that while I was doing everything I knew, it wasn't going to be enough for her or I. In comes Mike and Nova... Mike provided the knowledge and skillset I needed to become the best owner for Skye I could be. We tried several tools because she is simply that stubborn and didn't take corrections! Finally we finetuned what she responded to, and over the 12 weeks she became a literal dream dog. Before- I couldn't even dream of taking her in public. Now, she can go anywhere with me, is working hard to become a tasked service dog and is off-leashed trained. Not only did Mike help get us to this point, but now after we are "officially" done with training, he is always a resource I have on the side when I need it. If you are looking to have a perfect dog, Mike is your answer. It is worth the investment and my only regret is not doing it sooner!

So patient and professional. Michael does a great job working with the dogs (who tend to respond to him instantly,) and an even better job working with the owners (who might learn a bit slower.) So much to say! As a lifetime dog owner, with my first (childhood) dog so smart she ‘trained herself’, I grew up not knowing there was such a thing as TRAINING your dog! That is... until I got MY first dog. All the bad habits I’ve lived with were, you guessed it, MY fault for not knowing that I could help my various dogs over the years change bad behavior! Then Mike came along. He almost instantly had my Great Dane paying attention to what I asked for on a walk, and by phone walked me through teaching my 3 month old Shiz Tzu that indeed sitting when I stop during a walk, was doable at that young age. (Now, age 3, my Shiz tzu still sits when I lag a bit on a walk while waiting for a grand child to catch up...so mannerly!) I’ve told many many people that ‘Mike can teach ANY dog, ANY thing.’ Friends and strangers marvel at my stories of seeing Mike’s German Shepherd laying next to MY unruly Great Dane DURING Christmas Eve dinner, and IN THE ROOM where we are eating! It had never happened before! (We always banned that lanky table-top-eating giant from the dinner room!!) And all you have to do to be a believer is see Mike’s dog Nova in action... stopping mid stride at Mike’s command while going after a tennis ball, Nova backing up because Mike tells him to, Nova putting socks in the wash machine, food wrappers in the trash etc etc. I once put a credit card on the floor and watched Mike’s dog pick it up and return it with nary a bite mark! Mike does not live near me, sigh. But he IS my nephew and I see more videos and hear more stories than you’ll ever see. But YOU might live near him and get to experience his transforming ability to change the way your dog operates, and to negate those bad habits. It won’t take as long as you think! He makes a difference every time he comes to visit. He will change your world.

We had a wonderful experience working with Mike and Nova. Our puppy, Bailey, went from a nipping, wild nuisance to a sweet, active puppy. We called Mike when we were desperate - our kids did not even like our puppy, Bailey. She constantly barked, howled, whimpered whenever in her crate. She was play biting constantly. She was out of control. We have had other puppies before, but she was just more intense than all of them. I can honestly say that Bailey is now the most well behaved dog we have ever had. She is still a puppy to be sure, but she is able to calm herself when needed. We feel confident taking her out in public - even as an 8 month old pup. We can also keep her out when guests are over- this has never been the case before for us, even non-dog lovers like her. Thank you so much Mike and Nova!

Mike and Nova have been such a huge part in Nira growing up and maturing. She would bark, lunge, jump, and pull. She also had pretty severe separation anxiety from me, which has all been cleared up within the first or second session. Today, I can walk Nira off leash, walk past or with another dog, and even be in the same room as a cat (which is huge). I have so many thanks towards Mike and Nova. Without them, I would probably still be dragged around on the other end of the leash!

Mike is an incredible trainer, very dedicated, knowledgeable and patient. Our new Golden Doodle puppy is a spectacular dog and a pleasure to take on walks and go visiting places. 10/10. Mike is a true professional and the work he is able to do with dogs is nothing short of amazing. We enrolled one of our dogs, who happened to be the "troublemaker" into Mike's program. Our dog went from barking incessantly at new visitors, nipping at other dogs and children (to the point where we couldn't take him anywhere) to a calm, quiet, obedient, almost unrecognizable dog. The transformation was so incredible, we enrolled our second dog, who now seemed "terrible" in comparison to his newly reformed brother. We now get compliments on their behavior wherever we go. They have turned into little gentlemen. A far cry from the yappy dogs they were before entering Mike's program. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. I used to be someone who thought I could train our dogs myself but Mike's training really goes beyond basic potty training. Dogs are capable of so much more. Mike's ability to understand their behavior in such a way allows him to get results, which I would have never been able to reproduce on my own. It's an investment, but the peace of mind for the dog as well as the owner is really worth every single penny. Our dogs are no longer anxious and neither are we. If you're thinking about it, just do it. You won't regret it.

Mike is the best and I cannot recommend him enough!!! I have been working with him and my puppy, Dakota, to be certified as a therapy dog. Mike takes his time to get to know you and your dog and how to best train them so you can reach all your goals. Dakota is just over a year old and she is extremely well behaved and I am able to do things with her that I never thought possible. I would not have been able to do any of it with out Mike (and Nova too)!!!

Mike was great. He was patient with us and our 1.5 year old dog Roscoe (shepherd/lab mix). Mike teaches the owners as well as the dog. His info into the way a dog thinks was extremely helpful. He took us step by step into the training process, using all the available tools (and Nova too). We were hesitant about some of the training tools used at first, namely the chain collar and the electric collar, but he taught us the safe way to use these tools. Used correctly they made such a big difference in our dog. Within days Roscoe learned the power of the word "No". We now routinely go off-leash with Roscoe and get all kinds of compliments from others about his behavior. We purchased the "Dream Dog" plan and Mike delivered. Mike uses various locations to teach the dog in highly social areas. We've passed Mike's card on to friends and neighbors.

Penns Canine training was an incredible experience for me and my dog. My dog went from a sled dog to a westminister show dog after 1 lesson and by the end of the 12 weeks of training we had our dream dog; He had basic obedience along with a couple of other tricks that Mike taught us along the way! Not only was my dog trained, but I was trained as well which in my opinion was the most important aspect of the program!

Before Mike came to our rescue, we had a six month old active puppy Tanner, and a four-year-old overgrown puppy Dude. Mike helped us identify our 70 pound pulling machine’s personality so that we could bring him under control. Now Dude walks off leash at a heel very comfortably and doesn’t get anxious riding in the car anymore. Our puppy is now a year old and can walk off leash and behaves when people come to our home. I would highly recommend Mike Penn and his sidekick Nova to anyone that has a dog that they would like to go places with but can’t because of behavior issues. Also, if you want to have them come, heel, sit, down, wait, stay, go to a “place”, wait at the door and not run outside, and the list goes on and on. We are so thankful for Mike and Nova.

If “dog psychologist” was an actual legitimate profession, then Mike would be the World’s Leading Dog Psychologist. He has what I would consider to be the equivalent (or higher) of a doctoral degree in dog training and dog behavior (and I am a doctor). His credentials, training, and education reflect his commitment and dedication but his genuine intuitive compassion for dogs is something I have never seen before (not even on tv). Speaking of which, Mike needs his own tv show because he puts Cesar Milan to SHAME! When I came to Mike I was discouraged and defeated because I had a 10-month-old Doberman puppy, named Frankie, who was large and in charge and had gone through 2 other trainers with no success. When I bought Frankie I asked that he be left intact (no cropped ears, docked tail, or neutered) because I knew when I bought him that I wanted him to be approachable and trained as a therapy dog so that I could take him to work with me. My number one priority was making sure this powerhouse of a dog was not a liability and that I was completely in control and trusted him. When I came to Mike, Frankie was a flight risk (breaking off leash and chasing people; knocking you over to run out of the house; running out into the street…), almost pulled me into the lake one day, marking his territory on everything including me and my friends, did not understand the social language of other dogs and constantly got attacked, extreme social anxiety with howling, scared of his own shadow, among many others. In ONE SESSION, Mike taught Frankie to stop pulling on the leash and heel. Again, ONE SESSION to teach Frankie not to sneak out of the house, stay put when told despite having the door wide open. Long story short, Frankie and I were in training with Mike for about less than a year and a half and Frankie is now dually trained as a therapy dog and service mobility dog pending his upcoming exams soon. I now have my dream dog who I trust more than any person alive and I have Mike to thank for that. It is one of the best things I have ever done, and I learned so much about myself and dog behavior in the process. Mike, I want you to know how grateful and appreciative I am of your service and dedication to Frankie and myself. I do not know of another dog trainer on this earth that can do what you do. Frankie is my own personal antidepressant, and this is the happiest that I have been in years thanks to your commitment to Frankie and the bond that you fostered. You really touched both of our lives just as Frankie will touch people’s lives through his therapy and service work.

Mike is absolutely fantastic! I cannot recommend him enough. I took my German Shepherd, Hobbes, to him and the difference is night and day. You can tell Mike really takes his time to fully understand each dog and how each one is unique. Mike is the best. Some trainers can instinctively read dogs and their relationship with their families. And can then design a training program that addresses issues in that relationship. Misha, at 7 mths old, and I had a nearly broken relationship, which I was very close to giving up on. The bad behaviors were many- jumping on people, pulling on clothes, impossible to walk on a leash. Fast forward the clock 3 mths to today. We spent the day at the farmers market in Lake Eola then went to lunch. Misha was a star. We had a wonderful day together. Walking quietly on a leash, ignoring other dogs, quietly accepting pets and treats from strangers, no begging at the restaurant. Finally, a dog I can live with. I should probably mention that Misha had been going to classes since she was 9 weeks old and that I have been training, raising and breeding dogs for over 30 years and have never used a private trainer. When we added a new member of our family (Flo, German Shepherd female) we knew we wanted to give her the best life we possibly could, in order to achieve that we knew training her was going to be a vital part of the process that ultimately would allow us to enjoy her to the fullest. Mike did an unbelievable job in training my yellow lab. She was a rescue with no socialization and continued to get more and more aggressive towards our other dog, people, and anything she encountered while on the leash. We could not take her anywhere, neighbors were afraid of her, and her aggression towards our other dog was causing a lot of tension in our household. Mike worked intently with her (and us!) for 6 months, addressed/corrected all negative behaviors, and turned her into a happy lovable dog! People that knew her before Mike couldn’t even believe it was the same dog! She goes everywhere with us now and she is very friendly and lovable. We truly have a dog that we enjoy. We are so glad we hired Mike to help us with our 4 month Husky, Murray. Murray is smart but extremely stubborn, and drove us crazy trying to crate train. We now can easily say that we have the most well behaved dog in the neighborhood. We’ve mastered crate training, fundamental commands and off leash. Taking him in public is a breeze. I first used Mike for training my Rhodesian Ridgeback a few years ago. He did such an amazing job with JT that when I rescued the unruly out of control 2 year old Dogo Argentino I knew Mike would be the only one able to help. He did not disappoint! Odin went from not even being able to walk on a leash to perfect off leash walking. He also no longer chases the cats all over the house, harmony has once again been restored in my home.
